Khulna admin to monitor market prices during Ramzan

Khulna district administration has taken necessary steps to control the price of essential commodities in the holy month of Ramzan in Khulna. It will start functioning from first Ramadan, said Md Helal Hossain, convener of the task force committee, also Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khulna.

A control room from the DC office will monitor prices of commodities on a regular basis and receive complaints from the consumers. The committee took decision to conduct mobile court to take action against the dishonest businessmen.

Meanwhile, Khulna office of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has already started distributes essential goods in Khulna city during Ramzan at the subsidized rates.

The market monitoring committee of Khulna was formed at a view-exchange meeting held at the conference room of DC office recently with DC Md Helal Hossain in the chair.

Chairman of Zila Parishad, Khulna Sheikh Harunur Rashid, Superintendent of Police (SP), Khulna ASM Shafiullah, Chief Executive Officer of KCC Palash Kanti Bala, President of Khulna Press Club SM Habib, District Marketing Officer, Khulna Abdus Salam Tarafdar, Chief Executive Officer of TCB Khulna region Md Rabiul Morshed, among others, spoke on the occasion.

DC Helal called upon the leaders of the business community to sell goods of daily necessities within the budget of the average consumer so that Khulna residents are not forced to delve deep into their pockets during in the holy month of Ramzan. He also sought help from people of all walks of life to keep the prices of daily commodities within the reach of the common people during the holy month.

The market monitoring committee convener also asked to fix the wholesale and the retail prices of some major essentials and display the prices in markets, major shops and wholesale hubs during the said time. District level government and non-government officials, representatives of KCC, KCCI, whole sale markets, Banik Samity, Imam parishad, local journalists were present in the meeting.
