State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury Monday said that the government is well aware of the prevailing dengue situation urging all concerned to remain cautious and abide by all necessary ways to stop spread of dengue virus on Eid holidays, reports BSS.

“The government has been working to prevent the dengue outbreak and providing medical services to the dengue patients… But the home- bound people should be more cautious to prevent dengue from spreading on Eid holidays,” he said. He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on “Safe water vessels on Eid holiday” ahead of Eid-ul-Azha at Sadarghat terminal building, said a press release.

Secretary of the ministry M Abdus Samad presided over the programme while Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore M Mahbub-ul-Islam and Director General of the Department of Shipping Commodore Syed Ariful Islam were present, among others. He said the government is prepared to ensure safe and hassle-free journeys by waterways during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Earlier, he joined a rally at Sadarghat terminal to create awareness against dengue and chikungunya viruses.
