BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has extended Eid greetings to countrymen and the party leaders and workers across the country and abroad and sought prayers from all, said her personal physician Prof AZM Zahid Hossain.
He said the BNP chief will celebrate Eid with her close relatives at her Gulshan residence 'Feroza' while animals will be sacrificed at her residence.
Apart from Dhaka, sacrifices will be offered by their family in Gabtoli in Bogura while party leaders and workers will also sacrifice animals in the name of Khaleda Zia in some districts, he said.
Zahid, also BNP standing committee member, said Khaleda Zia’s sister Selina Rahman, younger brother Shamim Eskandhar and other close relatives who are in Dhaka will mainly come to Feroza and exchange Eid greetings with her as she will take lunch with them.
Meantime, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman celebrated Eid today as the festival is being celebrated in London today. He offered Eid prayers at an Eidgah in London with party leaders and workers.
Tarique Rahman talked to his mother from London this morning and extended Eid greetings while Khaleda Zia also spoke to her daughter-in-law and granddaughters.
He is celebrating Eid with his wife Zubaida Rahman, daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman, younger brother late Arafat Rahman Coco's wife Syeda Shamila Rahman, their daughters Zahia Rahman and Zafia Rahman in London.
Zubaida Rahman left Dhaka yesterday and reached London in the early hours of today. Coco's wife returned to London a week and a half ago.
Khaleda Zia returned to Dhaka with her two daughters-in-law on May 6 after completing her treatment in London.
Earlier, she celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr at Tarique Rahman's house in London as she stayed there for two and a half months for treatment. He celebrated Eid privately with his two sons-in-law and granddaughters after more than a decade and a half.
