Bangladesh Railway Posso Society (BRPS) has demanded keeping the application process operational by publishing circulars of government jobs to protect the rights of job seekers who are in fear of crossing the age limit due to the corona pandemic.
The demand was made in a press release sent to the media on Saturday by the organization’s president Moniruzzaman Monir.
He said in the press release that all educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 25 last year due to coronavirus. The recruitment procedures of government jobs have also been stalled.
At this point, students have lost almost two years of their precious lives. It is the constitutional right of a qualified candidate to be able to apply for a government job. In order to protect this right, the publication of circulars have to remain operational so that they can keep applying for jobs online.
Recruitment activities can be conducted later at any convenient time after the corona situation comes under control.
He demanded immediate publication of circulars for vacant posts in all government offices including Bangladesh Railway.
He further said, "We demanded to extend the age limit for government jobs by two years on May 24. However, it is more convenient to keep the application procedure operational compared to the issue of extending the age limit.
Job seekers who have lost the age for application during this period should also be given the opportunity to apply with special consideration. This will bring some relief to the depressed youth.
The president of the organization also said that the recruitment of 48,000 manpower of Bangladesh Railway has been held-up due to the coronavirus situation. The age limit of millions of job seekers has expired.
“Therefore, I demand to keep the application process operational for government jobs to protect the rights of millions of unemployed youths and job seekers in the country”, he added.
