Wicketkeeper-batter turned commentator Dinesh Karthik has named ace-allrounder Shakib Al Hasan in his best playing XI of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the end of group stage matches.

Karthik picked Pakistan skipper Babar Azam who has 4 half-centuries in 5 matches in the tournament and is the top-scoring player with 264 runs alongside Jos Buttler who is the second-highest run-getter as the openers.

He picked up Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka for the No. 3 spot. South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen comes in at the No. 4 spot in Karthik’s list while all-rounders Shakib al Hasan and Moeen Ali follow. He picked Jasprit Bumrah, the only Indian player on the list alongside Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi and Kiwi pacer Trent Boult.

“Babar Azam, Jos Buttler, Charith Asalanka, Rassie van der Dussen, Shakib al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Wanindu Hasaranga, Adam Zampa, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Afridi.

Would have ideally liked Morgan as he has been the best captain for me, but has not done enough as a batter. So, I went for Azam. Van der Dussen is a very clever batsman,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz.

“The tournament has been dominated by bowlers. So, you can see I have picked 7 proper bowlers. If Australia is in the semi-final, a huge hand has to go to Zampa. Afridi has looked a class apart from the rest,” he added.
