Kangalini Sufia’s cry for help

There is no food, no money to buy medicine in the house of veteran baul signer Kangalini Sufia. The artiste has been crying out for help in the media for the past few days after being trapped in Kushtia  because of the country’s coronavirus situation.

Kangalini Sufiya’s said to the media, “I cannot even bring to words the level of crisis I am going through right now. A month ago I had gotten 10kg rice and 1kg potato from the DC office of Kushtia. That has been finished; I don’t have any money to buy medicine for the past month.

No one asks about my whereabouts. Someone save me please. Please arrange for me to buy medicines. Some days later, it will be like starving to death. Who knows when I might pass away.”

Kangalini Sufia has long been suffering from heart, kidney and blood pressure problems. She said, “Even if the money for food cannot be given, at least tell the government to give me the money to buy medicine. It has been a month since I can’t buy any medication. I hope the government will still stand by me as before.”

However, although Kangalini Sufia received financial support both from the state and privately, she feels that if they come up in this situation it would be better.

Kangalini Sufiya was born in Ramdiya village of Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari district in 1961. Kangalini Sufia has won around six national and ten international awards and has composed about 500 songs.
