Rapid Action Battalion on early Saturday morning arrested the prime accused of Kamrangichar teen age girl gang rape case. The arrested was primarily identified as Raton,18, a battery run auto-rickshaw driver.
Getting secret information, a team of RAB-10 arrested him from city’s suburb Savar at around 2:30 am Saturday. Major Mohammad Anisuzzaman said, “After the incident key-accused Raton was hiding at Savar to dodge the law enforcers. Later we arrested the criminal from there.” During the primary interrogation, he admitted that he led the gang rape as a revenge on her after failing to make love with the victim.”
He was working as auto-rickshaw driver in Kamrangirchar area. Earlier on Thursday, a teen age girl was gang raped at an under construction building in city’s Kamrangirchar area at around 7:30 pm. A case was filed accusing Raton and his associates Hasan, Sifat, Sobuz, Rony and a female friend of the victim.
After the incident, police arrested Hasan, Sifat, Sobuz, Rony and the female accused from different parts of the city. But Raton was still absconding. Inspector Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar Police Station said, “Five accused brought the victim to the second floor of the construction building at Rasulpur area under the police station. Later they raped her.” Family members rescued her. She was admitted into the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
