State Minister for Industry Kamal Ahmed Majumdar on Saturday demanded inclusion of Monipur School and College under the government’s Monthly Pay Order (MPO) enrollment.

“Tuition fees in our school are less compared with other schools. We also want to bring a smile to the teacher’s face. I will request the education ministry and education minister to enroll Monipur School and College under the government’s Monthly Pay Order (MPO),” the state minister, also founder of the school, said.

He made this request on Saturday (March 11) at a press conference at the school’s auditorium.

The education ministry had suspended the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) of Monipur High School and College on Dec 12, 2012 for not returning extra fees taken during admission despite repeated reminders.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on February 28 this year ordered the authorities of Monipur High School to appoint its senior teacher Zakir Hossain as the acting headmaster. DSHE came up with the order following the directives of the High Court.

DSHE in an investigation in 2020 found that the appointment of principal Md Farhad Hossain of Monipur High School and College in the capital was illegal.

Later, another investigation by Dhaka education revealed that the extension of the tenure of Farhad Hossain as the principal of the school was not legal as well.

A recent investigation by the Directorate of Inspection and Audit (DIA) also concluded that the appointment of Farhad Hossain was not legal.

On February 27, the High Court directed the authorities concerned to give charge of the post of the headmaster to the school’s senior teacher Zakir Hossain. DSHE asked parties concerned to take necessary measures to this end within three working days.

“We are not above the law. Following the HC directives, senior teacher Zakir Hossain will work here as the acting headmaster,” State Minister for Industry Kamal Ahmed Majumdar said.
