A farmer at a Kaliganj village was hacked to death in public. The incident took place at Daulatpur village in the upazila. The deceased was identified as Amirul Islam, 45, son of late Jabed Ali of the village.
Locals and police said that Shain had been demanding Taka 300 to Amirul following selling of a goat to the in-law of Amirul Islam. He (Shahin) was locked in quarrel with Amirul on Friday afternoon which was stopped anyway.
At about 8.00 PM when Aminul was returning home from a local market, Shahin and his associates waiting on the way started hacking him. Amirul was taken to Kaliganj upazila health complex (UHC) in a critical state died on the way.
OC of Kaliganj Police Station Mahfuzur Rahman Mia said they recovered the body.
