Gias Uddin Selim's film Kajolrekha has been officially selected for screening at the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands. The film will be showcased in the Limelight section of the 54th edition of the festival, scheduled to take place from January 30 to February 9, 2025.

Released on April 11 this year, Kajolrekha is based on the folklore of Bengal's Maimansingha Geetika. While the film did not achieve significant commercial success, it earned widespread critical acclaim for its creative approach and storytelling.

Expressing his thoughts on the film’s selection, director Gias Uddin Selim shared, "This festival has always prioritised experimental films, and they were intrigued by how we brought an ancient tale like Maimansingha Geetika to life in a contemporary, local form. It’s truly an honour."

Selim, along with actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila, will attend the festival to represent the film. The star-studded cast of Kajolrekha includes Mondera Chakroborty, Sariful Razz, Sadia Ayman, Khairul Basar, Iresh Zaker, Azad Abul Kalam, Sahana Rahman Sumi, Irfan Selim Sujon, and Jhuna Chowdhury.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam is renowned for promoting groundbreaking and experimental cinema. This selection marks another milestone for Gias Uddin Selim, who has previously gained recognition at international festivals. His earlier blockbuster Monpura was screened at a major festival in Switzerland, and his film Paap Punno was featured at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The selection of Kajolrekha at IFFR highlights the growing global appreciation for Bangladeshi films and their cultural richness. This achievement reflects the talent and dedication of Selim and his team in bringing traditional stories to a wider audience.
