The 100-year-old Zamindar Bari at Kaitola village under Nabinagar upazila in Brahmanbaria has become a sanctuary for anti-social activities and drug addicts due to lack of supervision and negligence.

The place is now on the verge of decaying. The ancient tradition of Nabinagar is being lost in the possession of influential people due to improper maintenance of necessary conservation agencies.

In the wake of the demand for speedy renovation of this historic site, recently a team led by Dr Ataur Rahman, Regional Director of the Chittagong and Sylhet Division of the Department of Archeology, visited spot. After inspecting the Zamindar Bari, he said that he would send a full report to the ministry.

Meanwhile, people of the area have called upon the local MP and Prime Minister to rescue the Zamindar Bari from the hands of influential people and build a modern tourist center here.

A Zamindar named Bishwanath Roy Chowdhury came from Shimgaon of Kolkata under West Bengal and set up the Zamindar Bari at Kaitola village of Nabinagar upazila.
