Zack Snyder's Justice League will not lead to more DC spin-off movies, Warner Bros has confirmed.
In an interview with The New York Times, head of DC Films Walter Hamada dismissed the idea of the HBO Max Snyder Cut leading to more stories, stating that any potential spin-offs or sequels are currently not part of the studio's plans for the future.
The publication explained that Snyder is currently "not part of the new DC Films blueprint, with studio executives describing his HBO Max project as a storytelling cul-de-sac – a street that leads to nowhere".
This comes after Snyder himself previously teased the possibility of a Justice League sequel, with the director having already mapped out his plans for the next villain, Darkseid.
"It's a fair question to ask me, you know," he said during a League of Mayhem live stream from The Nerd Queens back in November. "Like what do I say to the world about, you know, what happens when Darkseid comes to Earth? Then what? You know, is that a thing?
"I think, listen, the truth is that, did I write and did I have and conceive a complete... do I know what happens when Darkseid? Yes. I do know what happens. To say and to speculate about what that is, that would be exciting. I think that's a fine thing."
While it's not technically a spin-off or sequel, we will see Ben Affleck's Batman return for the upcoming Flash movie, which is set to explore the multiverse and reintroduce Michael Keaton's incarnation of the Dark Knight.
Aside from this, though, it seems Snyder's Justice League story will end with his four-part re-edit for HBO Max, which will see the likes of Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot return as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman with some additional footage. —Digital Spy
