A student of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has achieved the honor of crossing the 'Bangla Channel'. The name of the student who crossed the channel is Md. Tarek Hasan. He is a student of 2010-2011 academic year of the department of Nutrition and Food Technology (NFT) of JUST. Tarek is the second student of JUST who has achieved the honor of swimming across the Bangla Channel. Earlier, Mitu Akhter, a student of the 2018-2019 academic year of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS), crossed the Bangla Channel for the first time from JUST.

Tarek Hasan swam from Teknaf to St Martin as part of the '17th Fortune Bangla Channel Swimming 2022' competition on Thursday.

He took 7 hours and 1 minute to cross this channel of 16.1 km distance. "Shawaroz Adventure" and "Extreme Bangla" jointly organized this swimming competition. Visathing, United Securities Limited and NCC Bank Limited also helped in this competition.

When asked about crossing the Bangla channel, Tarek Hasan said, "It feels very good to be successful by participating in such a competition. It is a great achievement for me to be able to represent my university. He also said, I am participating in this competition so that the new generation can take inspiration from me and not be afraid.

He said, long ago I used to watch videos of crossing the channel. Since then I have wanted to do something like that. My journey started from there. He also said that he can do better things if he gets help. It is known that a total of 32 contestants, including one girl, participated in this competition. Out of these 20 contestants managed to cross the channel successfully.

Regarding the success of departmental students, the chairman of the department of Nutrition and Food Technology (NFT) Professor Dr Shirin Nigar said, congratulations from the university for successfully crossing the Bangla channel. Tarek's achievement will serve as an example for other students of the university.

Tarek has proved that it is possible to achieve such success through one's own efforts and hard work even by studying in other departments outside the sports related department. I believe that others will be inspired by his success.
