JUST celebrate World Physiotherapy Day-2022

World Physiotherapy Day-2022 was celebrated at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) through various events including joyous rally, cake cutting, cultural program. These programs were conducted on the initiative of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (PTR) department of the university on Saturday.

The day long programme of World Physiotherapy Day began with a joyous procession at 9:30 am at JUST Dr M R Khan Medical center. It starts from MR Khan Medical Center and ends in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building. Then the discussion started. Vice-Chancellor of JUST Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain was virtually connected as the chief guest. 

He said, Jashore University of Science and Technology, the first university in Bangladesh to open Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (PTR) department after overcoming various hurdles. 

The teachers and students of this department have already organized various programs including free medical camps in different villages of the region. It is really a pleasure for us. Today we have proved that it was the right and timely decision to open this department. Vice chancellor also said that he himself has been receiving physiotherapy treatment for a long time and is doing well, for which he does not need to take painkillers. He wished the day all round success.

The Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Technology of JUST Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid emphasized the importance of physiotherapists. 

He said that the Rehabilitation Council can take necessary initiatives to appoint physiotherapists in every district and upazila of the country. In addition to the employment of some young people, marginal people of the country will benefit a lot.

At the end of the discussion meeting, the cake was cut on the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day with the participation of the guests, teachers and students of PTR department. 

In the afternoon, interesting cultural programs were held with the participation of students of the department.
