The budget of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) has been increased 56 times in twelve years. The size of the first budget of the university in the financial year 2008-09 was Tk 1.23 crore.
A budget of Tk 68.80 crore has been announced for the 2021-22 financial year. Of this, Tk 61.80 crore has been collected from the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) and Tk 7 crore from the university's own sector. Compared to last year, the size of the budget has increased by 9 crore 80 lakh 52 thousand taka this year.
Treasurer professor Abdul Majid proposed the budget at the 69th special meeting of the Regent Board, the highest policy-making forum of the university, in the conference room of the administrative building.
About this budget JUST Vice chancellor Professor dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said ‘I had already declared this university as a research university. As part of my firm conviction, a budget of Tk 1.5 crore has been allocated for research and Tk 4 crore for research equipment in the 2021-22 financial year to create research opportunities for teachers and students.
He said the partnership and collaboration with the industry would be enhanced to increase the internal revenue of the university. I believe that everyone at Jashore University of Science and Technology will use this money wisely to take us forward to this goal.
After raising the budget, the members of the Regent Board gave their views and recommendations on the allocations in different sectors of the university.
