A Dhaka court on Thursday set June 12 for submitting probe report in a case lodged over the murder of Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda, Bir Bikram on November 7, 1975.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order, accepting the first information report of the case.
Earlier in the morning, martyr Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda's daughter and lawmaker Nahid Ijhar Khan filed the case with capital's Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Police Station against Major (retd) Abdul Jalil of 10th East Bengal Regiment and 20/25 other unidentified persons.
The plaintiff in the case alleged Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda, Major General Khaled Mosharraf, Bir Uttam, Lt Colonel ATM Haider, Bir Uttam, were gunned down by disgruntled members of Bangladesh Army at then headquarters of the 10 East Bengal Regiment situated at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises.
"From different sources, we learned that following the directions of then army chief Ziaur Rahman and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal leader Lt Col (retd) Abu Taher, the disgruntled officers and soldiers of 10 East Bengal Regiment killed my father and two of his companions in cold blood. The killers even charged bayonet to make sure their deaths," the plaintiff said.
Nahid Ijhar Khan further said as the time after that killing was adverse for seeking justice they had to wait so long, adding, as now the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in power, I want justice for my father and the other two valiant freedom fighters those were killed along with him on that day.
