July Uprising Day was celebrated at Chattogram University (CU) on Tuesday.

Various day-long programs were held on the CU campus on the occasion. The programs included rallies, seminars, discussion, a musical concert titled 'National Anthem and July Songs', stage plays, documentaries and other cultural programs.

A victory rally was held from the CU Memorial Square to the administrative building. The rally was led by Chattogram University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yeahiya Akhtar. After that, seminars and discussion meetings and a pleasant cultural program were held at the CU Sociology Faculty Auditorium. The keynote speaker was Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, retired professor of the CU Economics Department and syndicate member.

CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin presided and CU Proctor Professor Dr. Tanvir Haider Arif moderated seminar and discussion over the meeting. The event was attended by CU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Professor Dr. Mohammad Tayyab Chowdhury as special guests.

Chattogram University Sociology Faculty Dean Professor Dr. Md. Enayet Ullah Patwari and College Inspector Professor Dr. Amir Muhammad Nasrullah spoke as panelists at the meeting. Shaheed Farhad Hossain's elder brother Golam Kibria and Shaheed Hridoy Chandra Tarua's father Shri Ratan Chandra Tarua spoke at the event.

CU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yeahiya Akhtar said, today's discussion was very good. The learned discussants had very important discussions. He also said, ‘We have failed in the past due to disunity. Disunity is still being observed. Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus I would have been happy if an all-party government had been formed without the Awami League. There was a need to form a national government for five or seven years. They could have brought order to the country by reforming.”

He said, first of all, education reform is needed. No good results can be expected by treating the fingers of the hand without treating the pain in the spine. There is still an opportunity. The government should form an education reform commission.

      Equality, human dignity

     and social justice have

        not yet been established

He said, the character of the country's bureaucracy is the same as before. Their nature has not changed.

They have only been transferred from one office to another. In this situation, if another government comes, the country will be massacred.

He demanded reforms and elections. The Vice Chancellor called on everyone to build unity. He expressed the hope that the country will move forward only if this unity can be built.

CU Vice Chancellor said, the people's right to vote was taken away by the previous fascist government. The Harvard Electoral Integrity Project report has highlighted the issue of the fascist government taking votes at night during the day. He said, at least to build a new Bangladesh, we are appointing good teachers, officials and employees to make the university free from discrimination. Even then, negative news is being received. Do what is good for the country.

Ratan Chandra Tarua, father of Shaheed Hridoy Chandra Tarua, said, "My son was martyred in building a new Bangladesh. I am proud and happy that you are by my side, and I want you to be by my side more if necessary. You have done a lot in this university to preserve the memory of my son. I am proud and honored for this. I will come whenever you call me." He also said, "I want justice for those who committed such atrocities. I want to see the murderers tried. My soul will find peace only if I can see the murderers tried."

Shaheed Farhad Hossain's elder brother Golam Kibria said, "The July Uprising was painful and glorious. My mother was senseless for three days in a row, then she regained consciousness. Although he was the youngest in the family, my younger brother was very responsible. He was an ideal person in all respects. He used to pray five times a day, always prayed Tahajjud. He also took all the T-shirts when I was a student of Dhaka University, now no one will take them. We all gathered in one place in the July Uprising."  Equality, human dignity and social justice have not yet been established. He called for utilizing the golden opportunity of building a new Bangladesh after the July mass uprising.

The Deans of various faculties of Chattogram University, Provosts of Halls, Proctors and Assistant Proctors, Departmental Presidents and Institute Directors, Director of Student Counseling and Guidance, Teachers and Students, Heads of various offices, Officers and Employees, Journalists of Print and Electronic Media were present at the event.
