A commemoration and honors were held on the significance of the July Revolution at the initiative of Chattogram Medical University (CMU).
A commemoration and honors were given in memory of the revolutionary fighters in the July Revival 2025 and July 2024 mass uprisings in the seminar room of Chattogram Medical University on Thursday at 12 am.
At the beginning of the program, a minute of silence was observed in memory of those killed in the July mass uprising and the national anthem was sung by everyone. After that, the university administration welcomed the injured fighters of the July Revolution with flowers and commemorated the memorable days of the mass uprising through a video presentation.
Chattogram Medical University (CMU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Omar Faruk Yousuf present as a chief guest on this program.
The meeting was moderated by Dr. Meherunnisa Khanam, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Member-Secretary of the Memorial program and Special guest were CMU Syndicate Member Dr. Khurshid Jamil Chowdhury, Dr. AKM Fazlul Haque, Academic Council Member Dr. Tamiz Uddin Ahmed, and Deans of all faculties of the university.
The speakers said, "The July Revolution is an important chapter in the history of Bangladesh. This revolution opened up new horizons in the country's governance. The sacrifice of the martyrs is a source of inspiration for the new generation.
Speakers said, "We would not have been able to stand here today if it were not for the anti-discrimination movement. There was a goal and objective behind this movement. The spirit of July should be the direction of our work. By keeping this spirit in mind, we must establish justice, good governance, and eliminate corruption in the society."
The meeting hoped for consensus among all in building a new Bangladesh based on the July Uprising.
12 July warriors were awarded the Crest of Honor. Among them are doctors, nurses, students and people of various professions.
BITID teachers, Chattogram Mother and Child Hospital Medical College Principal, University Examination Controller Professor Dr. Ajay Dev, College Inspector Professor Dr. Moynal Hossain, Executive Engineer Engineer Farhad Rashid, Assistant Registrar (Administration) Md. Alauddin, Assistant Director (Finance) Md. Misbah Ibne Hakim and all the university officials and employees were present.
Those injured in the July Uprising expressed their feelings and expectations in the meeting.
