A joint force of police and army arrested a listed July Fighter, Md Selim Reza (25), with phensedyl and cash during a raid in Thakurgaon. The operation took place around 10 PM on Monday in the Maheshpur area of Shibganj Jamalpur Union, under Sadar Upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Sarowar Alam Khan of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station confirmed the arrest. Selim Reza, son of Md Khurshid Ali, is a resident of Maheshpur village.
Acting on a tip-off, the joint force recovered 21 bottles of Indian phensedyl and Tk 42,000 in cash from his possession. A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act, and he will be produced in court on Tuesday.
The arrest has sparked public outrage over how a drug dealer became a listed July Fighter.
