Jahangirnagar University Journalists’ Association celebrated its 52nd founding anniversary on the campus on Monday.
To mark the day, the JUJA hosted a discussion and an iftar party at the teachers’ lounge of the university’s central cafeteria in the afternoon.
Vice-chancellor professor Nurul Alam attended the discussion as chief guest, while pro-vice-chancellor professor Manzurul Haque, registrar Rahima Kaneez and proctor ASM Firoz-Ul-Hasan were present as special guests.
Professor Nurul Alam urged university journalists to work on maintaining objectivity in reporting and seeking the correct angle on a phenomenon.
The association’s president Belal Hossen presided over the programme, and general secretary Alkama Azad conducted it.
Meanwhile, JUJA adviser professor Farid Ahmed, Nationalist Teachers’ Forum JU unit president professor Shamsul Alam and general secretary professor Kamrul Ahsan, among others, attended the event.
Different departments’ teachers, officials, leaders and activists of different political, cultural and social organisations were also present.
JUJA was founded on April 3, 1972. It is the country’s first university-based journalists’ association.
