The national award winning film director Ashraf Shishir’s masterpiece, ‘Juddhota Chhilo Swadhinotar’ (The Unsung), is taking part in three international film festivals in Italy, India and England consecutively.
The film is going to be screened at the following three international film festivals from 29 June to 6 July at the 17th Ischia Film Festival, which is going to be held in Italy from 21 to 28 July at London in the 20th Rainbow International Film Festival and from 26-28 August at the 3rd Wular Lake International Film Festival.
The film has been made following the story of our great Liberation War. Nearing the December of 1971 when the Pakistani army was retreating to the capital Dhaka, the freedom fighters prohibited them from doing so. With the help from the allies a part of the biggest rail bridge in the country was bombed from the air which resulted in a chaos which the Pakistanis had to suffer from.
A part of the shell which hit the bride still lies at the Pakshi museum in Iswardi as a witness of time and history. Such is the story of the film which the director has tried to tell. Already the film has been cleared from the censor board and has gotten permission to be screened in Bangladesh.
Regarding this Ashraf Shishir says, “Our liberation war is a great pride of our history. The people of other countries will be able to get a sense of our history through this film which makes me very happy.”
