A local leader of Juba League was hacked to death by miscreants in front of his daughter in Cumilla on Wednesday. The incident took place in front of Funka brick kiln at Chouara in Sadar Dakkhin Upazila at about 7:30 am.
The deceased was identified as Zillur Rahman Chowdhury alias Zilani. He was a resident of Ward No-25 of Cumilla city and a councillor candidate of last CCC polls.
According to local and police sources, a group of miscreants intercepted Zillur and hacked his hands and legs with sharp knives when he was taking his daughter to a private tutor.
Locals took him to Cumilla Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Sadar (south) model police station Inspector (investigation) Kamal Kanti Dhar confirmed the matter. He said police is investigating the incident.
The deceased’s wife alleged that her husband was killed due to political revenge.
