Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) brought out a torch light procession on Thursday evening demanding reopening of campus.
The protesters started demonstrations carrying torches from the university’s Shahid Minar premises. The students chanted slogans and demanded to reopen campus by October 1. Parading several streets on the campus the procession ended at Shahid Minar premises with a short rally.
Meanwhile, JU unit of BCL had a discussion with JU VC and Pro-VC (Administration) to reopen the university and the dormitories within the stipulated time. They also demanded to reopen the dormitories for vaccinated students by October 1.
Earlier on September 22, JU VC Prof Farzana Islam commented that authorities are expecting to reopen campus any day after 15 October ensuring a minimum one dose of vaccine against Covid-19 to all students.
