A third-year student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was killed in a road accident at Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, student of Geography and Environment department, who hailed from Manikganj district.
Police sergeant Shibunath Sarkar said, "The microbus carrying Mehedi and his friends met with an accident on Wednesday at noon while passing through the Baushia area of Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj district.
Critically injured Mehedi was shifted to Dhaka for better treatment while other passengers of the microbus were admitted to the local Bhaber Char Health Complex, he added.
Mehedi succumbed ho his injuries at a hospital at Dhanmondi in the capital around 10pm Wednesday.
JU Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam expressed her condolence over the sudden death of Mehedi.
She prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members
