Agitating students and teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have announced fresh protest programmes demanding resignation of the university’s Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam over her graft allegations.

President of Socialist Students’ Front (Marxist) of JU unit, also an organizer of the movement, Mahathir Muhammad announced the programme at a press conference at Teachers’ Lounge of New Arts Building at the university campus on Monday. As per the fresh protest programme, they will bring out a procession demanding three-point including the removal of the VC, punishment of the attackers and reopening the dormitories as well as launching the academic activities in full swing on November 27. They will disclose a documentary on Vice Chancellor's corruption to the general people on December 3.

Coordinator of the platform ‘Jahangirnagar Against Corruption’ Professor Raihan Rain said, ‘‘The university administration is going to start the admission activities of fresh students under 2019-20 session from December 1. The university's decision to conduct admission activities without opening the university campus is ridiculous. Moreover, the largest part of the fresh students coming from all over the country to participate in the admission process will have to stay in the dormitories. If the admission process will continue by closing the hall, the fresh students will have to face many problems.”

Adding that the Vice-Chancellor has no right to keep students suffering for the sake of her own interest, he demanded immediate reopening of dormitories and university campus and removal of vice chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam.

Professor Tareq Reza of Bangla Department, Associate Professor Khondakar Hasan Mahmud of Geography and Environment Department and Professor Jamal Uddin of Environmental department were present, among others.
