After a prolonged closure, Jahangirnagar University (JU) reopened its residential halls on Wednesday, bringing a sense of relief to students. The university is set to resume all regular academic activities from Sunday.
This decision was reached during an emergency syndicate meeting held at 10:30am on Wednesday. The meeting aimed to address the reopening of the university and the smooth resumption of its academic programs.
A notice issued by the university’s Registrar, Md Abu Hasan, provided detailed guidelines for the reopening. According to the notice, all residential halls of the university were reopened from 11am on Wednesday. Students are required to present their ID cards upon entering the halls to ensure that only current students access the facilities.
The notice also clearly stated that former students and outsiders would not be permitted to stay in the dormitories under any circumstances. The university administration has committed to taking strict measures to enforce this rule, ensuring that the residential spaces remain secure and available only to current students.
In addition to reopening the dormitories, the university will resume all regular academic programs starting Sunday. This includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses, while weekend and evening programs will remain on hold. The notice emphasized the importance of starting the education program smoothly and urged teachers to take necessary steps to facilitate this transition.
Furthermore, the notice called upon all members of the university community, including teachers, students, officers, and employees, to work together in maintaining peace and order on the campus. The administration stressed the importance of a peaceful environment for the successful resumption of academic activities and the overall well-being of the university community.
