Jahangirnagar University BCS Officers' Forum (JUBOF) on Saturday felicitated scholarship awardees of the university for academic excellence at the undergraduate level.

The forum organized the programme at around 3:00pm at the Senate Hall of the university. JU Vice Chancellor Prof Md NurulAlam handed over the cheque and certificate to 39 students from different faculties and institutes.

Addressing the function, the JU VC said, “University is run by the money of the masses, so the students have the responsibility to work for the welfare of the society as well as the state.”

JUBOF President and Senior Secretary of ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ahmed Munirus Saleheen said, “We are the beneficiary of the independent state which was led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Without the independence, we can’t imagine ourselves in the highest positions of the university or the state. From these liabilities, we have to take various initiatives for the welfare of the alumni of the university as well as the state.” JUBOF Secretary and Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Abdul Ahad said, “We took the initiative for the first time after the establishment of our organization. Hopefully, we will bring each of the students every year from the undergraduate level under scholarship scheme in the upcoming days.” Associate Professor of Government Titumir College Abdullah Al Mamun conducted the programme. JU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Mostafa Feeroz, Member of Planning Commission (Secretary) Abdul Baki, former Income Tax Commissioner Bazlul Kabir Bhuiyan, acting Dean of the Social Science Faculty Prof Bashir Ahmed, chairman of JU Statistics department Prof Alamgir Kabir, also spoke, among others.
