To prevent sabotage and violence during the election in Cox’s Bazar and southern Chattogram, the joint forces led by the Bangladesh Army have taken strict measures to stop the use of Rohingyas for any disruptive activities. Ahead of the voting, on election day, and in the post-election period, the authorities have imposed restrictions on movement outside the Rohingya camps and are maintaining the highest level of surveillance on their activities.
These details were shared on Tuesday afternoon by Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Ahmed during an exchange meeting with journalists following a press conference organized by the Army’s Ramu 10 Infantry Division at the Cox’s Bazar Cultural Center auditorium.
He said that to ensure no unusual or unwanted situation arises from the Rohingya camps, special operations are being conducted, including repairing barbed-wire fences, setting up checkpoints, and strengthening regular patrols.

Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Ahmed assured that Army striking forces will also be deployed at remote polling centers in the four parliamentary constituencies of Cox’s Bazar. If any irregularities or clashes occur inside or outside polling centers, the Army will directly take control of the situation in coordination with the police, RAB, BGB, and other law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that no malicious group will be allowed to create violence during the election.
He further assured that voters will be able to come to polling centers and exercise their voting rights without fear.
Earlier, at the press conference held before the exchange meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Sutfa Zaman presented an overview of the recent operations conducted by the joint forces under Army leadership.
He stated that from February 3 to 9, joint forces carried out 46 operations in various areas of Cox’s Bazar and southern Chattogram. These operations led to the recovery of six firearms, a large quantity of locally made sharp weapons, and narcotics. In addition, suspects in several high-profile murder cases were arrested, along with 1,149 Rohingyas who were illegally living outside the camps.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the joint forces, including Additional Superintendent of Police Ahmed Piar of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Circle, BGB Ramu Sector Majors Nazmus Sakib and Omar Faruk, and Senior ASP A. M. Faruk of RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar Battalion.
