JSC, JDC results to be counted based on GPA-4 from next year

The results of the Junior School Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations would be counted based on Grade Point Average 4 instead of current GPA 5 system from the next year, said education minister Dipu Moni on Tuesday. At a press conference held at the secretariat, she also said that the ministry was working on the process.

The press conference was held to brief journalists about the upcoming Junior School Secondary Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations which are scheduled to be held in November 2-13. The minister said that this year around 26.61 lakh students were expected to take the JSC and JDC examinations. A keynote paper shows that the number of candidates has increased by around 2.18 lakhs this year comparing to the previous year. The numbers of total institutions and exam centres are 29,262 and 2,982 respectively. This year the number of female candidates is higher than the number of male candidates.  Out of total 26, 61, 682 candidates 14, 39, 987 are girls and 12, 21, 695 are boys. The numbers of irregular students participating in the JSC and JDC examinations are 2, 33, 310 and 30, 291 respectively.
