The results of Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC), Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee (madrassa) Terminal examinations were published on Tuesday registering a pass rate of 87.9 percent in JSC and JDC exams while 95.50 and 95.96 percent in the PEC and Ebtedayee exams this year.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced the JSC and JDC results officially at a press briefing while State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossen announced the PEC and Ebtedayee results at another press briefing at the conference room of the ministry.
The pass rate of JSC and JDC exams in 2019 rose 2.07 percent higher than the previous year (2018). The last year’s pass rate was 85.83 percent. Some 78,429 students got GPA-5 this year whereas some 68,095 students got GPA-5 last year.
A total of 26,02,053 students took part in the JSC and JDC examinations in 2019. Of the total examinees, 22,87,271 students passed in all the subjects where some 18,90,518 students passed in 2018. On the other hand, the pass rate in the PEC and Ebtedayee exams declined by 2.09 percent and the pass rate in the Ebtedayee exam declined by 1.73 percentage points. In 2018, 97.59 percent of examinees passed the Primary School Certificate, or PSC, exam while 97.69 percent passed the Ebtedayee exam.
A total of 24, 54,151 students took part in the PEC examination this year, of which 23,43,743 examinees came out successful, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossen said this announcing the PEC and Ebtedayee examinations results at the ministry. He said a total of 3, 04,178 examinees appeared in the Ebtedayee examination this year. Of the total, 2,91,875 students became successful.
The state minister said a total of 3,26,088 students got GPA-5 in the PEC examination this year while 11,877 students got GPA-5 in the Ebtedayee exam. Among them, a total 78,429 students obtained the highest grade GPA-5 which was 68,095 last year. Earlier, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni handed over the copies of JSC and JDC examinations results while State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md. Zakir Hossen the copies of the PEC and Ebtedayee examinations results to the Prime Minister at her official residence Ganabahban.
Earlier in the day, the results of school certificate examinations for fifth and eighth graders were also handed over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence in Dhaka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also inaugurated the distribution of free textbooks among students for the year 2020 from the same event.
