A general discussion is likely to be held in the current session of the 11th Parliament on the brutality of Israeli forces on the Palestine citizens.
The probable general discussion will be held on any day during the current 25th session of the 11th Parliament on the issue of Palestine. It is likely to be held in House today or tomorrow, said the sources at Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat.
Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizbhandary, MP from Chattogram-2 constituency and president of Bangladesh Tarikat Federation, on Monday (October 23, 2023) sought floor on a point of order to speak on the Palestine issue.
He was given the floor and the Chattogram-2 MP drew the attention of the speaker to address the point of order in the Parliament session.
In reply, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said that this discussion will be held under Rule 147. She also said that a day will be fixed in the current session, on which the detailed discussion will take place. Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizbhandary, MP, and MPs MPs will be able participate in the discussion.
However, at the beginning of the current session, the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) adopted a condolence motion at the massacre and death of Palestinian people by Israeli brutal invasion.
Rule 147 of the Rules of Procedure of the National Parliament deals with any matter of public interest. A Member of Parliament brings a motion (ordinary) in this regard in the Parliament. Interested MPs discuss the proposal. Parliament later accepted it. Palestine issue can be discussed in general in this rule in the National Parliament.
In 2014, Jatiya Sangsad adopted a resolution to stop bloodshed in Gaza of Palestinian on that time.
Meanwhile, the UK Parliament was scheduled to hold discussion on the Palestine issue on Tuesday (October 24, 2023).
