JS proceedings are being digitalised: Speaker

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Tuesday said the digitalization of JS proceedings is continuing while the use of ICT in administrative activities in the parliament secretariat has already increased remarkably, reports BSS.
“The activities of the parliamentary standing committees are being operated trough Management Information System (MIS) and the collection and preservation of information through the JS Data Center has been modernized,” she said.

Dr Shirin was addressing a discussion on ‘Digital Strategies and Capacity Building for Parliament’ at the Institute of Systems Science (ISS) auditorium of Singapore National University in Singapore, said press release. The speaker said orientation on information technology (IT) is being given to the parliament officials along with the parliament members.

Noting that Bangladesh has achieved a remarkable progress in using Information and Communication Technology (ICT), she said activities are going on to set up necessary infrastructures in this regard. ISS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Khoong Chan Meng, e-Government Leadership (eGL) Centre Director Ashok Kumar, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Singapore Md Mustafizur Rahman and ISS officials were present at the programme.

In the programme, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ISS of Singapore National University and ICT Division of Bangladesh on giving training and enhancing skills on ICT.
