JS body meeting on social welfare ministry held

The third meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Welfare was held on Thuursday at Jatiya Sangsad(JS) Bhaban here with its chairman Rashed Khan Menon in the chair, reports BSS. 

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed as well as State Minister for Social Welfare Sharif Ahmed and other committee members, including Nasreen Jahan Ratna, Bodruddoza Md Farhad Hossain, A K M Sarwar Jahan, Kazi Kaniz Sultana and Begum Aroma Dutta attended the meeting, among others.

The implementation report of the decisions taken in the 2nd meeting was presented before the meeting and detailed discussions were held in this regard, a press release said.

At the meeting, the committee discussed the appointment of the post of ‘Resource Teacher’.

They also recommended engaging the visually impaired people in the mainstream of the state and society providing them special opportunities to apply for the ‘Resource Teacher’ post, it added.

The report containing income-expenditure of all assets of the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Trust was presented at the meeting.

Besides, they recommended for taking steps to turn this trust into a profitable organization from a non-profitable concern.

A three-member parliamentary sub-committee comprising Md Farhad Hossain, A K M Sarwar Jahan and Begum Aroma Dutta, was formed in order to submit a complete report by reviewing the entire activities of the trust.

Social welfare senior secretary Juyena Aziz, senior officials of the ministry and JS secretariat were present on the occasion.
