In a bid to revamp the country’s tourism sector, the government has devised plans to present the country’s cultural heritage before the world to attract more foreign tourists to visit Bangladesh. This was discussed in the parliamentary standing committee on the Culture Affairs Ministry at its sixth meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the capital on Thursday, with committee Chairman Simin Hossain (Rimi) in the chair.

Side by side, the government is also going to enact the Archeological Preservation Policy. Necessary steps have been taken to appoint skilled manpower to this end, according to a parliament release.

The meeting discussed that the cultural affairs ministry has already approved to set up a museum at the country’s 2500 years old archeological site Wari-Bateswar located at Belabo upazila in Narshingdi district. Committee members State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Asaduzzaman Noor, Sagupta Yasmin, Asim Kumar Ukil, Subarna Mustafa and Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury participated in the meeting.
