An animated film titled ‘Mujib – My Father’ has been made portraying the role of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the language movement. The film has been produced by the ICT Division. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ICT Adviser SajeebWazed Joy shared a part of the animated film on his verified Facebook page on Sunday night.
The film sheds light on the role of Bangabandhu in catalysing the movement to uphold the mother tongue.
Sajeeb Wazed Joy paid tribute to all language martyrs on the Martyrs' Day by highlighting the charismatic leadership demonstrated by the father of the nation in the historic language movement and the wrath he incurred from West Pakistan.
He posed questions,“How were the days during the language movement? How did young student leader (Father of the Nation Bangabandhu) Sheikh Mujibur Rahman organize students for the struggle? Why was he imprisoned for entire three years between 1949 and 1952?” and showed how the animated film answered all of them.
In a separate post, Sajeeb Wazed Joy commemorated the supreme sacrifice of the language martyrs.
The film recreates the historic moments of the language movement in 1952 where Dhaka was seething with protests against the declaration that Urdu would be the only state language of entire Pakistan, a decision deliberately neglecting tens of millions of Bangla-speakers.
Bangabandhu's childhood, adolescence, youth, political life and other aspects of life came up in the film. This animated film is based on the period from the childhood of Bangabandhu to the language movement of 1952.
