A human chain and protest rally was held in Jouri upazila of Moulvibazar on Monday to protest the murder of journalist Burhan Uddin Muzakkir, a correspondent for both Bangladesh Samachar and Barta Bazar in Noakhali.
Ringku Ranjan Das, Vice Chairman of the Upazila Parishad, was present at the protest organized by journalists at the Upazila premises. It was presided over by Sirazul Islam, President of Jouri Upazila Press Culb, while Secretary of the club Tajul Islam conducted the whole programme.
Among others, Jugantar correspondent Manjure Alam Lal, Prothom Alo correspondent Kalyan Prasoon Champu, headmaster of Balkia High School Ishaq Ali raised their voice.
Speakers condemned the killing and harassment of all journalists including Burhan Uddin Muzakkir. They called upon the government to provide exemplary punishment immediately, for the murder and harassment of media persons.
