 
                    UNB, Chattogram: The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has achieved a new milestone as Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd. became the 50th company to sign an agreement to invest in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) at Mirsharai in Chattogram.
Journey Outdoors Bangladesh, owned by investors from Singapore and China, will invest US$ 27.57 million to set up a high-end garment and outdoor products manufacturing industry in the zone.
The lease agreement was signed on Monday at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka between Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Han JunXiao, Managing Director of Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd. BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain witnessed the signing ceremony.
The new venture will produce around 16 million pieces of high-end apparel and outdoor items annually, including jackets, T-shirts, pants, jeans, yoga wear, hiking outfits, golf apparel, backpacks, sleeping bags, tents and other accessories.
The project is expected to create employment opportunities for 3,467 Bangladeshi nationals.
Speaking on the occasion, the BEPZA Executive Chairman thanked the investors for choosing Bangladesh and reaffirmed BEPZA’s commitment to ensuring a secure and business-friendly environment for all enterprises.
With this latest agreement, the BEPZA Economic Zone has now attracted a total proposed investment of US$ 1.11 billion from 50 companies, strengthening its position as a major destination for global investors.
