Entertainment journalists have decided to impose a lifelong boycott on Joy Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association's newly elected organizing secretary, for instigating the attack and displaying arrogance against newsmen.

Besides, they have also decided to declare April 23 a 'Black Day'.

The atmosphere turned bitter on the FDC premises during the oath-taking ceremony of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association, marred by an attack on journalists by artists on 23rd April.

The incident left several journalists injured, sparking outrage in the entertainment community. Joy Chowdhury, despite initially apologizing on behalf of all involved, later engaged in a heated argument with journalists.

During a meeting last Wednesday night at FDC, journalists warned, "Should the artists' association involve Joy Chowdhury in any activities, we will extend the boycott to the association as well." Any film projects involving Chowdhury will not receive media coverage, they declared.

Moreover, actors Shiva Shanu and others, including Sushant, will face a one-month suspension for their involvement in the assault on journalists. A committee convened by the FDC to investigate the incident had representatives from the entertainment press present. Witnesses revealed that despite attempts at dialogue, Joy Chowdhury remained obstinate, leading to the decision of a lifetime boycott.

The altercation erupted when YouTubers engaged in conversation with Shiva Shanu, a member of the Artistes Association, following the swearing-in of the newly elected committee.

Tensions escalated during interactions with journalists, resulting in a verbal altercation and subsequent attack around 6:30 pm. Witnesses identified Shiva Shanu as the instigator, with Joy Chowdhury and Alexander Bo joining in.

Notably, fight

directors from the entire FDC also participated in the assault.
