Shawon Solaiman, Senior Reporter of The Daily Rupali Bangladesh, has received the 'Digital Excellence Award 2025' organized by the Digital Media Forum (DMF), an organization of media professionals. Shawon Solaiman was awarded the prize in the 'Print/Online' category in the 'Technology' section.
The grand event was organized at the Lakeshore Heights Hotel in Gulshan, the capital, on Saturday night. Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, was present as the chief guest and handed over the awards to the winners.
Earlier, on October 3, the Digital Media Forum announced the organization of the 'Digital Excellence Award 2025' for the second time at a press conference.
The organization invited reports from the print, online, TV and multimedia departments on behalf of journalists in various categories until October 15. From the submitted reports, the best reporters are selected in various departments and categories according to the decision of the jury board.
Shawon Solaiman has been working as a reporter in the country's mainstream media for a long time in the IT, Telecom and City Corporation bits. Shawon Solaiman has written reports on topics such as Information and Communication Technology, Telecommunications, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics.
He has also written investigative reports against corruption from time to time.As a technology reporter, Shawon Solaiman has also written reports quoting foreign tech giants such as Meta, Uber, Google, Photolab, Kaspersky and their representatives.
As part of his professional duties, he has covered the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (Apicta) Awards, known as the 'Oscars' of the technology sector, twice. Shawon Solaiman participated in the events in Vietnam in 2019 and Hong Kong in 2023, as invited by the organizers.
He also covered the 79th and 80th United Nations General Assembly in 2024 and 2025, respectively, receiving 'media accreditation'. Recently, Shawon covered the 'World Youth Festival Assembly 2025' held in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, from September 17 to 21, at the invitation of the World Youth Festival Secretariat.
