Journalist Shafiq’s 1st death anniv observed

Saturday was the 1st death anniversary of journalist Shafiq Rahman.

On this day in 2021, he died of cancer at Evercare Hospital in the capital at the age of 44.

Marking the death anniversary, Qurankhani and doa mahfil will be held at his village home Sarmahal under Nalchity upazila of Jhalakathi district.

Besides, cooked food will be served among the poor and destitute in the capital. His family members have requested all to pray for the salvation of the departed soul.

In his journalistic career, Shafiq had worked for different national and international media outlets, including Bichitra, Probe News Magazine, New York-based Ekattor, The Arthoniti Protidin, The Daily Sun, and The South Asian Monitor.

Not being a professional photographer, Shafiq Rahman’s two solo photo exhibitions titled ‘The Dying Grounds’ and ‘The Wasteland’ earned fame from critics and visitors.  

Shafiq Rahman founded a school in his village to spread the light of education to underprivileged children.
