Journalist Abdul Qadir dies on way to work

The journalism community in Parbatipur, Dinajpur, has been struck by grief following the sudden death of veteran journalist Abdul Qadir (65) on Saturday morning (November 29, 2025). Qadir, a prominent figure in the district’s media landscape, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while on his way to his business establishment and passed away instantly.

Witnesses said Qadir suddenly became dizzy and collapsed on the ground near his workplace at exactly 7 am. Despite immediate attention, he could not be revived. His untimely death has cast a deep shadow over the Parbatipur press fraternity.

Born in Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram district, Qadir had been a long-standing resident of Dhupipara locality in Parbatipur. Alongside his journalistic career, he was a successful entrepreneur, owning Brothers Library and Parbatipur Sundarban Courier Service.

Professionally, he was known for his dedication, integrity, and commitment, earning respect from colleagues, local administration, and the wider community. He served as former president of Parbatipur Press Club and was the local representative for the daily Kaler Kantho.

Qadir leaves behind his grieving wife, four sons, and two daughters, along with numerous admirers and colleagues who regarded him as a model professional.

In a statement, Parbatipur Press Club and local media representatives expressed profound sorrow over his passing. They described him as a tireless worker and an exemplary figure in journalism, noting that his absence creates an irreplaceable void in the local media community.
