It is disconcerting to learn that Japanese employers feel Bangladeshi workers do not have proper manners and that this is the reason why Japan is not interested to recruit Bangladeshi workers.
The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology has taken the initiative to train manpower for 14 categories under which Japan is going to recruit skilled labour. Also the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted the Japanese government to get Bangladesh enlisted in the list of countries. This multi-ministerial effort to establish Bangladesh’s place in the international arena as a strong supplier of skilled labourers is commendable. Not only that, this initiative will surely take the repute of Bangladesh in the country of Japan to newer heights.
But, other than the efforts being given to get enlisted into the list of countries, it is really shameful that a country which is so well recognized for their sense of courtesy, honour and manners should rebuke the manners of Bangladeshis. However, one should think as to the primary reason not being enlisted in the first place. Japan should have been a friend to Bangladesh then why didn’t they list Bangladesh in the first place? Was it really for such a trivial reason relating to manner which can be overcome relatively easily?

in the list of countries.
On another note, the list contains nine countries but Bangladesh is not one of them. However, five ministries including Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology are working to get Bangladesh enlisted in the list of countries so that Japan can import skilled manpower in future. According to reports published in this daily Japan is going to take 3.4 lakh skilled manpower under 14 categories and 9 licensed Japanese organizations are going to select them.
The authorities concerned should urge the Japanese government to look to Bangladesh for skilled manpower. This will bolster the amount of remittance earned every year. And, in addition to that, the government should also provide adequate opportunities for the people to get appropriately trained in skills, etiquettes and manners so that they can look for opportunities abroad.
