Hasan Al Razi Chun, a sixth batch student of Zoology Department of Jagannath University (JnU), has discovered a new species of frog.  Marjan Maria, a student of 12th batch of the same department assisted in the research.

They collected some small frogs 18 to 22 mm in size from the Lauachara National Park in Moualvibazar and the protected forests of Adampur in April-May of 2019.  After examining the physical structure of the frogs and running various tests, including DNA, a frog species named Raorchestes was found.  This species of frog was not discovered before.

"After collecting the frog, we ran various tests and no prior information was found about the frog." animal researcher Hasan Al Razi Chun said. Regarding the naming of the frog, he said we named the frog Raorchestes Razakhani to recognise Ali Reza Khan's role in protecting wild life animals. The frog dissertation will be published in the American famous journal Zookeys very soon, he added.

The entire research work was under the supervision of Professor Sabir Bin Mozaffar, Professor of Biology at the University of the United Arab Emirates.
