The Jagannath University (JnU) new academic building underground parking lot has been full of garbage for a long time. Due to the reason a shortage of parking spaces are created and the students are facing sufferings while parking.

Students are not able to park their vehicles properly due to the garbage left behind. As a result, they are parking their vehicles in different places on the campus which have no parking zone. The beauty of the campus is being destroyed.

When Tariqul Islam, a second year student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at JnU was asked, he said, “I have a bike. When I came to the campus, I went to park the bike in the underground of the new academic building, but I did not have the courage to keep the bike in the unsanitary environment of the underground. Then being forced, I parked the bike in Shanta Chattar.

When I asked the janitor Hossain of the main gate of the university about cleaning the dirt, he said, it is not our responsibility, it is the responsibility of the university care taker officer, talk to them. Moreover, only university teachers and officers' cars are guarded here, not students.

Talking about students’ car parking, he also said that students can park their vehicles but the safety responsibility of the students.

When a security guard of JnU named Hossain was asked about cleaning the dirt, he said that it was not their responsibility and he suggested talking to the university caretaker officer as he is responsible.

He also said that only university teachers' and officers' cars are guarded here, not students. While talking about students' car parking and safety responsibility, he added that students can park their vehicles but the students have to maintain safety responsibility.

“The old goods were auctioned and sold. They should be removed and the parking lot cleared. But they took other goods and left them. There will be some more auctions in the future and everything will be cleared at once”, said Md Ismail Hossain, assistant registrar of the caretaker office of the university, who was asked why the pile of dirt is not being cleaned.

When he was asked when it would be cleared, he said, “Maybe not before June or July. I will talk to the engineer and try to clear it up as soon as possible.”
