A four-member delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by its Senior Advisor Dr. Watanabe Koichiro called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman on Wednesday at the latter’s office of the university. Other team members were JICA Representative Chinatsu IHA, Program Officer Tomita Norifumi and Alimul Hasan.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology of DU Professor Dr Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu and Prof. Dr. Bidyut Baran Saha of Kyushu University, Japan were, among others, present on this occasion.
During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative research and academic programs between Bangabandhu Chair of DU and JICA Chair of Japan. They also discussed about introducing joint Degree Program under the supervision of DU and different universities in Japan.
Later, Senior Advisor of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Dr. Watanabe Koichiro delivered a lecture at a seminar on ‘History of Engineering Education in Japan’ at CARS conference room of DU.
The Faculty of Engineering & Technology of DU organized this seminar.
Earlier, Counselor in Culture & Education Affairs of Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh Liwen Yue also called on Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman today May 17, 2023 at the latter’s office of the university.
During the meeting they discussed about establishment of a research-based center titled ‘The Center for China Studies’ at Dhaka University to conduct multi-disciplinary researches. In this regard a MoU will be signed soon, they opined. Besides, they also exchanged views regarding an international seminar to be held virtually on May 24, 2023 focusing the necessity of establishment of the ‘Center for China Studies’.
