Although the Jibannagar Upazila Health Complex in Chuadanga district was upgraded into a 50-bed one nearly two yeas ago, the authorities concerned have not run the hospital till now due to lack of doctors and other staff.

According to the sources, the Jibannagar Upaizla Health Complex was upgraded into a 50-bed hospital on June 6 in 2018. The government has already supplied all equipment at the hospital. But its function is not beginning due to vacant posts of consultants, medical officers and other staff.

Local people demanded to start the 50-bed hospital as soon as early.  The health complex was established in 1973 in the upazila town. A three-storied building was constructed for using as a 50-bed health complex. The building was handed over to the health complex authorities on January 19 in 2016.

Sufficient equipment for treatment in the hospital is available. There is no problem in pathology section of the hospital. According to Health Complex sources, about 500 outdoor patients on  average are treated daily. On the other hand, 60 indoor patients on average are given treatment daily in the health complex.

A proposal has been made to create some posts in the 50-bed health complex. The posts are: 11 posts of consultants, four posts of emergency medical officer, 20 posts of medical officers, three posts of indoor medical officers, one post of medical officer (health informatics), one statistics officer, 15 posts of cleaners, four post of ticket clerks, one post of photo copy operator, one store attendant, one pharmacy attendant and four emergency attendants.

Dr. Juliet Parwin, upazila health and family planning officer, told the Bangladesh Post that they on March 11 in 2019 sent a letter to Health Ministry for filling up the vacant posts for running the 50-bed health complex.

She also said that it is possible to start the 50-bed health complex after appointing the staff.  Rosul Mollik, a member of Monoharpur union parishad in Jibannagar upazila, said that they demand to start the 50-bed Jinnagar Health Complex as early as possible.
