Hundreds of students of Jhenidah government veterinary college on Wednesday morning blocked Jhenidah-Chuadanga highway for an hour ignoring heavy downpour. Later the blockade was withdrawn when the police administration had assurded them of settle the matter with a bilateral discussion at an early time.
The agitated students said the authorities have suspended all types of classes and examinations in the college. The college authorities were not in a position to resume the class and arrange examinations as the Jashorer Sceience and Tecchnology University has not been issuing no-objection certificates for the past few months.
They said their college was affiliated under Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University, while the Jashore authorities have been killing time of the students for long. Later, the officer in charge of Jhenidah Sadar police staion Main Uddin rushed to the college road and assured all possible cooperation from the police administration to resume the class and examinations at an early date.
Jhenidah government veterinary collage Principal Amalendu Ghosh said they had sent letter to Jashore Sceience and Tecchnology University seeking date for examinations again.
However, they (Jashore) did not respond to the matter for a long time, leaving the class and examainations uncertain. The students finding no other alternative came to street to press home their two-point demand on Wednesday morning ignoring the heavy rainfall.
