Shailkupa Thana police in Jhenaidah recovered the body of a schoolgirl on Sunday, after three days of missing.

The deceased was identified as Irin Akter Tithi, 17, daughter of Ashraf Hosssain, resident of Dudhsar village at Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah. She was a student of ninth grade in Rabeya Khatun High School in the area.

The body was recovered from a little jungle near her house in the village. She went missing on Friday evening.

Locals, family members and police sources said Tithi left her house at about 7:00pm on Friday after finishing talking over her cellular phone with someone. Since then she went missing. Later, her body was found in a little jungle near her house in the evening of Sunday.

Shailkupa police station Officer-in-Charge Safiqul Islam Chowdhury said that they had sent the body to Jhenaidah 250-bed general hospital morgue for autopsy. The report might help detect the motive of the killing. The police said Tithi might be killed elsewhere, while her body was left near her house at any time of Sunday which they think mysterious.
