When the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has implemented a number of big projects like Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Expressway and taking the country toward a remarkable height, the people of Jhenaidah have been deprived even from minimum development for a long.
The people have expressed their deep concern when the government of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not appoint any one as either a full or a state minister for any department after the twelfth national polls held on January 7 last.
When contacted Language Hero, Gauranga Saha, 93, and eminent educationist and human rights activist retired principal Aminur Rahman Tuku said, they were very disappointed when they could not see the name of any one from Jhenaidah as any minister or state minister of Sheikh Hasina government during expansion of the cabinet on March 1.
The duo said eminent journalist Anwar Zahid had discharged the duty of the minister for information and broadcasting, also as the minister for labour and manpower department during the tenure of Ershad Shikder.
Later, Jhenaidah-1 seat lawmaker, Awami league Jhenaidah district committee president heroic freedom fighter Abdul Hyee was nominated as the state minister for fisheries and livestock in the tenth national polls government. But the people of the district virtually could not see any visible development during the tenures. On January 7 last Abdul Hyee was elected for the fifth consecutive terms from Jhenaidah-1 seat.
They said the Prime Minister should nominate any one of the lawmakers or a suitable one as the minister of any discipline for the socio-economic and overall development for the ever neglected and deprived south-western district Jhenaidah, might be connected with the ongoing development train run by Sheikh Hasina towards the Smart Bangladesh.
