Jhenaidah municipal polls rescheduled

The postponed polls of Jhenaidah municipality was rescheduled for September 11 (Sunday). Election commissioner (EC) Ahsan Habib Khan informed that to the officials including the law and order 

maintenance authorities involved in the polls. 

He was speaking in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) on Sunday. EC warned against any anarchy following the re-scheduled polls and said they had taken pall out preparations to hold the elections without further rescheduling the same as it was deferred for a several times. 

He said 18 executive magistrates, five platoons of border guards Bangladesh (BGB) and other law enforcers were deployed so that each and every voter might cast their votes through electronic voter machine (EVM) without any hassle. 

They will start activities two days prior to the scheduled polls.

Jhenaidah DC Manira begum, superintendent of police (SP) Ashiqur Rahman, regional election officer (REO) in Khulna region Humayun Kabir, district election officer (DEO) Abdus Salek among others spoke.

Mention may be made here that the EC had postponed the elections scheduled for June 15 when there was a number of allegations about violation of code of electoral rules, clashes and deterioration of law and order on 

June 12 last.
